FOX 2 NOW – Dr. Lehman – The dangers of single sport specialization at a young age

These days kids are good at many sports like baseball, soccer and basketball. Some children and their parents are now focusing on one sport to specialize in. Single sport specialization may help children get ahead in competitions, scholarships or even going professional.

But it’s possible specializing in one sport too early could be bad for children.

Dr. Rick Lehman from the U.S. Center for Sports Medicine in Kirkwood spoke with the Fox 2 team this morning to discuss different factors to consider when focusing on one sport.
