ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Balance, rhythm, spatial reaction and awareness: All are elements in coordination, and all are necessary for an athlete. A young athlete especially has to hone these skills early in order to maintain them later in their athletic life.
Here to explain further is Dr. Richard Lehman, director of the US Center for Sports Medicine in Kirkwood.
Dr. Lehman suggests starting young, not necessarily with breaking pitches or spiking the volleyball, but with the basics.
